LAS VEGAS!

Anxious to win back all of our trip expenses as well as my tuition for dental school, we set out from LA and headed for "Sin City" to gamble our little hearts out and live the good life on the Vegas Strip!

Brimming with excitement!
We checked into the SouthPoint Hotel and Casino (accommodations courtesy of my Dad's friend--Thanks, Mr. Powell!), and Courtney "The Deal Monster" was quick to enroll us in the casino's VIP Club (for free) so that we could get coupons for discounts all over the hotel.

Our first night we went to the hotel's casino and quickly lost 40 bucks on slots and other games. Feeling like the odds were strangely not working in our favor, we decided to play bingo instead. Bingo, for those of you who don't know, is actually a very cut-throat game--at least it's the most cut-throat game I have ever lost to a ninety-year old. We lost twenty bucks on bingo before calling it a night.

The next day we headed out to see the strip by daylight with the intention of seeing each of the "famous" hotels:
We saw the Bellagio.....
WOOOOWWW!!! We saw the fountains go off at the Bellagio.....
We lost five bucks at the Bellagio!!!!!
We set out down the Strip to see the sights.......
Then we met Al.
Al
(with the phone)
Al is a salesman. Al made us an offer we couldn't refuse: In exchange for just an hour and half of our time, he and his company would teach us about something called a "Timeshare" and then give us free tickets to a genuine Vegas show.............Two hours and forty minutes of unadulterated misery later, Court and I walked out with  two FRONT ROW tickets to see the Blue Man Group at the Venetian! WHAT WHAT!!!
(By the way, if you want to know what a timeshare presentation is like, just sit in a room with the most obnoxious person you've ever met in your life and repeat the words "No thanks, I'm not interested" fifteen thousand times.)

Long story short, we had an awesome night out afterwards and had dinner in the coolest hotel on the strip--The Venetian, which looks like its own little city on the inside. Then we got to see the Blue Man Group, which was the coolest show I've ever seen in my life.

First we went to see some of the other casinos--New York, New York
MGM's Lions were no longer on display.
Courtney wept.

We had to wear ponchos because we were on the front row. It's a very interactive show, so sometimes you get paint or food thrown at you.

Our time in Vegas was very fun and exciting. From there we headed out to see a Grand hole in the ground.
