Yellowstone: The Departure/Bear Mania/Salt Lake City

So, I promised a Bear frenzy, and I will deliver momentarily.
First, we packed up all our gear and headed toward Yellowstone's southern entrance.
Couldn't resist a Hyundai plug.
Doesn't get much better than that.
Courtney was absolutely beside herself with enthusiasm when we spotted our very first BABY BISON on our way out of the park.

But I don't think anything could prepare us for what we were about to see around the next corner: A huge mother Grizzly and her cub RIGHT NEXT TO THE ROAD! It was incredible.

Cub and Mommma
They were very close at first.....and then all of a sudden.......A LOT CLOSER! Check out the dude who waited too long to take his picture and is now stuck outside of his camper ten feet from an eight-foot-tall mother Grizzly!
The Grizz.....

From Yellowstone we headed into Grand Teton, which was equally beautiful, and we stopped by the Grand Teton Lodge, which was kickin'.

Swanky
From Tetons we headed to Jackson Hole, WY and crashed the annual fourth of july bonanza.

Antler walkway
Go America! (This was fun.)

For Mex #2
On to Idaho on the way to Utah.

Youdaho
For a state with the license tag motto "Famous Potatoes," Idaho sure does seem to be only populated by bovine.

Mormon Buildings!
Fireworks!

Bang
Hope everyone had a great fourth of July.......we did.

  1. Wow! I love the antler walkway. I would like to do this with the buck in our yard...Oops! that was not an appropriate Chapel Hill thing to say. :)
