We went to Reno!

From Salt Lake City, we traveled across a vast and seemingly endless stretch of sand and nothing to Reno, NV. The drive was long but we saw a couple cool things along the way...all of them involving salt:

I was absolutely intrigued by this. The ground is actually straight salt for MILES.

So, after a few hours in the car, we entered Nevada. Court and I can't figure it out, but I think that Casinos must account for 98% of Nevada's GDP. There are casinos EVERYWHERE! Probably the funniest thing I saw during our drive across the state was a sign for a city with a population of 28 that was comprised of one building--a gas station that also served as a hotel and (you guessed it!) casino. (Sorry,  I didn't get a picture.)

 We arrived in Reno just in time to check in at the Circus Circus Hotel and (yep....) Casino. Our room was only 29 bucks! It was pretty nice too...well, it was definitely nice in 1982. But it was great for the rate, and I got to gamble for the first time, which was thrilling!

 Reno was a pretty cool spot. We spent a grand total of $5.50 gambling. In the most thrilling part of the night, I was up $8.50 on the quarter slots.......but alas, I lost it all! I'm such a sucker. For the rest of the trip, Court has had to hear me say, "Well we would be able to afford that___(thing she wants)_______, if I'd only cashed out on the quarter slots!"

Anywho, it was a nice place to relax before heading out to Yosemite to take on the wilderness. More updates to come!
